My Artistic Journey
Stone has been part of my life for as long as I can remember.
I grew up surrounded by it - my father owned a stone quarry, and from a young age I watched raw slabs pulled from the earth, each one completely unique. At the time, I didn’t realize how much that environment was shaping me. I just knew that stone felt natural, familiar, and somehow personal.
But life took me in a different direction. I stepped away from stone and spent several years in the IT field. It was a different world - fast-moving, digital, and far from the rugged feel of natural materials. I learned a lot, but a part of me always felt detached. Something inside kept pulling me back to the craft I grew up around.
Eventually, passion won.
I returned to stone with fresh eyes, and it felt like falling in love all over again. I began by supplying different types of stone to clients, then expanded into hardscaping and masonry. Each step brought me closer to the part of the craft that inspires me most today: creating live-edge stone furniture.
I choose each stone piece very carefully. I spend time studying its natural edge, its grain, its colours, and its personality. Every stone is truly one-of-a-kind, shaped by nature over thousands of years. Most of the slabs I work with come directly from local Alberta Rundle quarries, giving each piece a strong connection to our landscape and heritage. When I begin a project, I’m not just building a table - I’m revealing the character that’s already hidden inside the slab.
Every piece I create is handcrafted, unique, and personal to me.
No templates. No duplicates.
Just nature and craftsmanship coming together to form something meaningful.
That personal journey grew into RundleArt a brand built on heritage, skill, and respect for natural materials. What started in my childhood, paused during my IT years, and reignited through passion has become a full-circle story.
Today, I create custom stone dining tables, coffee tables, shelves, and architectural furniture for homes, chalets, galleries, and commercial spaces across Canmore, Banff, Calgary, and beyond. Each piece carries a bit of my past, a touch of craftsmanship, and a story only stone can tell.
